A spirit of gathering and sharing holds a community together.  This is especially true during difficult times.

The Covid pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on vulnerable communities already touched by injustice. As a hālau, we will ĀINA ALOHA: Stand Firm for the Land for Berkeley’s Asian/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, which despite many challenges has and continues to endure.  In the expressive arts, in language, in food, in celebrations of cultural traditions, Asian/Pacific Islanders shape and enrich the larger community we all share.  With the upcoming Asian/Pacific Island Heritage Month in May, we will continue to celebrate their contributions.

‘ĀINA ALOHA acknowledges injustice, but also imparts a message of endurance and hope.
